Who Uses Image Converter
Use it when: a site, app or form wants a different image format than the one you have, such as WebP to JPG for an upload, PNG to JPG for email, JPG to PNG for editing or a folder of mixed images to WebP for a website.
Image Converter Features
- Any format to any format: Reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (first frame), BMP and HEIC. Saves JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, whichever your browser can create.
- Batch and ZIP: Convert up to 100 images in one go, one after another with progress and Cancel, then download each file or one ZIP.
- Transparency handled: PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparent areas. JPG has none, so they are filled with a background color you pick.
- Nothing uploaded: Every image is decoded and encoded by your own browser. Original names are kept with the new extension.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert an image to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF?
Drop your images on this page, pick the format under Convert to, and press Convert. Set the quality for JPG, WebP or AVIF, and a background color for JPG if your images have transparent areas. Then download each file or all of them in one ZIP.
Which formats can I convert from?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and HEIC. You can mix them in one batch. Animated GIFs come out as a still image of the first frame. HEIC photos open natively where the browser can, and otherwise with a decoder that loads only when a HEIC file needs it.
Why is AVIF or WebP missing from the list?
The converter uses your browser's built-in encoder, and browsers only have to support PNG. When the page opens it tests which other formats your browser can really create and only shows those. JPG and PNG always work. Safari, for example, can display WebP but can't create it, so on Safari the WebP button is hidden instead of giving you a PNG with a .webp name.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparent areas as they are. JPG has no transparency, so the converter fills those areas with the background color you choose (white by default). Without a fill, a browser would turn them black.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Each image is read, drawn on a canvas and saved by your own browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, so it is safe for private photos and work files. Your format, quality, background and size settings are remembered in this browser only.
Does it keep my file names?
Yes. holiday.png becomes holiday.jpg. If two files would end up with the same name, for example photo.png and photo.webp, the second one is saved as photo (2).jpg so nothing is overwritten in the ZIP.
Can I resize images while converting?
Yes. Turn on Limit width and height and enter a maximum width, height or both. Larger images shrink to fit and keep their shape; smaller ones are never enlarged. Leave a field empty for no limit on that side.
Is there a file or batch limit?
Up to 100 images per batch and 50 MB per file. Files convert one at a time so memory stays low, and you can cancel at any point. If a very large photo is too big for your device's canvas, it is scaled down to fit and the row says so.
