Convert XLSX (multi-sheet) and CSV to PDF in your browser. Page size, margins, header detection, numeric right-align, striped rows. No signup, no upload.
Excel to PDF Features
- Multi-Sheet Workbooks — Every sheet in your .xlsx becomes its own labelled section in the PDF — no more losing tabs after the first.
- Page Size & Margins — Pick A4, US Letter, or Legal output, with narrow / normal / wide margins. Auto-detects landscape for wide tables.
- 100% Private — exceljs + jsPDF run entirely in your browser — your salary numbers, GST invoices, customer rows never touch a server.
- Smart Formatting — Header rows are bold + accented. Numeric columns right-align. Dates render as DD MMM YYYY. Striped rows for readability.
How to Use Excel to PDF
From XLSX or CSV to a clean printable PDF in four steps.
- Upload XLSX or CSV — Drop your spreadsheet — multi-sheet .xlsx workbooks or single-sheet .csv files, both up to 50 MB.
- Pick Layout — Choose page size (A4 / Letter / Legal), margin (narrow / normal / wide), and orientation.
- Preview Sheets — Inspect each tab in the data preview — exceljs detects header rows and column types automatically.
- Convert & Download — Each sheet renders to its own labelled section in a clean, striped PDF — ready for email or print.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Excel to PDF converter actually free?
Yes — unlimited conversions, multi-sheet support, every page size, every margin preset, every orientation. No signup, no daily cap, no watermark, no row limits.
Does my spreadsheet data leave my device?
No. exceljs parses your .xlsx and jsPDF writes the PDF entirely in your browser. Your salary numbers, GST invoice rows, customer details, and financial figures never touch a CleverTools server.
Does it handle multi-sheet workbooks?
Yes — every sheet in your .xlsx becomes its own labelled section in the output PDF. The sheet name appears as the section heading, the header row repeats on continuation pages, and a tab bar in the preview lets you check each sheet before converting.
Are formulas, dates, and number formats preserved?
Formulas are evaluated to their computed values (Excel does this too when printing). exceljs detects dates and renders them as `DD MMM YYYY`. Columns where 70%+ of cells are numeric are auto-right-aligned in both the preview and the PDF — matching Excel's default behaviour.
What page sizes and margins are available?
Page sizes: A4 (210 × 297 mm — Indian / European default), US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), US Legal (8.5 × 14 in — long contract tables). Margins: Narrow (8 mm), Normal (12 mm), Wide (20 mm). Orientation: portrait or landscape — auto-set to landscape if your widest sheet has more than 5 columns.
Will charts, images, and conditional formatting carry over?
No — those are fundamental limitations of an in-browser pipeline. Charts inside .xlsx are pre-rendered objects that need a chart engine to redraw; conditional formatting and embedded images need a renderer that understands Excel's display layer. The converter focuses on tabular data, which covers 95% of real Excel-to-PDF use cases (budgets, invoices, payroll, GST returns, gradebooks).
Can I convert .xls (legacy) and .xlsm files?
Modern .xlsx is supported. Legacy .xls (binary, pre-2007) is not — open it in Excel or LibreOffice and save as .xlsx first. .xlsm (macro-enabled) workbooks parse correctly but the macros are stripped (PDFs don't run macros anyway).
What's the maximum file size?
Up to 50 MB per file. Because everything runs locally, the practical ceiling is your device's RAM — most laptops handle 50 000+ rows comfortably. For huge workbooks, split by sheet first and convert each separately.
