Restaurant GST Bill Generator

Restaurant GST has rules that aren't obvious - 5% for non-AC dine-in (no ITC), 18% for AC and alcohol-serving restaurants (with ITC), and service charge is optional and excluded from GST base. Our restaurant-mode template applies the right rate automatically based on your restaurant type, separates service charge from GST, and includes table number / waiter / time fields useful for daily reconciliation.

When to use this

Built for: dhabas, family restaurants, cafes, AC fine-dining, fast-food counters, food trucks, dessert parlours, bakeries with seating, Indian + Continental + Multi-cuisine establishments. Works for both eat-in and takeaway billing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I charge 5% or 18% GST in my restaurant?

5% (non-ITC) for: standalone non-AC restaurants, dhabas, food trucks, mess services. 18% (with ITC) for: AC restaurants, alcohol-serving restaurants, restaurants inside 5-star+ hotels (when room tariff > ₹7,500). The template asks once at setup and applies the right rate to every bill.

Is service charge taxable?

Service charge is voluntary (Consumer Affairs Ministry rule) and not part of the GST base. It's shown separately on the bill. If you charge it, mention 'Service charge is voluntary' in fine print - mandatory inclusion of service charge has been ruled illegal by Indian consumer courts.
