Does my source image need to be a specific size?
Ideally 512x512 or larger, square. Smaller images get upscaled which looks fuzzy at large sizes (192 / 512 PNGs). SVG works at any size since it scales mathematically. Non-square images get scaled to fit; align your logo to the center of a transparent square for best result.
Does this also output a .ico file?
No - the generator outputs six standard PNGs (16, 32, 48, 180, 192, 512) plus the matching <link> meta tags. Modern browsers, Android, and iOS all prefer the PNG <link rel="icon"> declarations over legacy favicon.ico. If you specifically need a multi-resolution .ico container, you'll need a separate ICO converter.
