PAN correction is needed when your PAN has wrong details: spelling errors in name, wrong date of birth, outdated photo, marriage-name change, or address update. The correction form (CSF) is technically Form 49A with specific fields marked. Our wizard guides you through only the fields you need to correct, generates the correct CSF, and prints a ready-to-submit PDF.
When to use this
Use for: correcting a typo in your name on PAN (very common after Aadhaar-linking exposes mismatches), updating PAN after marriage (new last name), correcting wrong DOB on PAN (often happens when applied with school certificate that had a typo), updating address after relocation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does PAN correction take?
Online: 5-15 working days after submission of documents (faster if you e-sign / Aadhaar OTP verify). Offline (printed form): 15-30 working days due to physical document movement. New PAN card is dispatched to your registered address by speed post.
Can I change my PAN number itself?
No - the PAN number is permanent. Correction only changes the details (name, DOB, address, photo, signature) associated with that PAN. If you ever discover you have duplicate PANs (e.g. one personal, one from old company application), surrender the duplicate via Form 49A 'Surrender' option.
